AI Literacy Lab

A 12-week, facilitator-led AI literacy curriculum for ages 8–18.

Students learn how AI systems use data, patterns, models, prompts, and human decisions. They inspect outputs, look for errors and bias, practice verification, and design rules for responsible AI use.

Format: 12 weekly sessions; about 90 minutes per session. Designed for one learner or a small group with a parent, teacher, or other adult facilitator.

What students do

Map an AI system, sort AI and non-AI examples, test how data choices affect outcomes, audit bias and misleading outputs, improve prompts, verify claims, and build a human-in-the-loop workflow and final responsible-use policy.

Important to know

• This is an AI literacy and critical-thinking program, not a coding course or machine-learning certification.
• Core activities are unplugged or adult-controlled. A student AI account is not required.
• If a live AI tool is used, the adult facilitator controls the account and follows that platform’s age, privacy, and safety rules.
• An AI software subscription is not included.
• Cutting activities and small pieces require adult supervision.

You provide: pencils or pens and optional sticky notes. An internet-connected device is optional for QR videos or adult-led live demonstrations.

Who is AI Literacy Lab for? It is designed for ages 8–18. Reading independence, discussion maturity, and the amount of adult facilitation should guide how each activity is used.

Does a student need an AI account? No. Core activities are unplugged or adult-controlled; a student AI account is not required.

Is this a coding or accredited core course? No. It is a supplementary AI literacy and critical-thinking curriculum, not a coding course, certification, or replacement for required core instruction. The completion certificate documents participation; it is not an academic credential.
