A 12-week hands-on clean-energy curriculum for ages 8–13.

Students build and test four working models: a solar-powered car, wind turbine generator, hydro generator, and dual-mode street lamp.

Format: 12 weekly sessions; about 90 minutes per session. Designed for one learner or a small group with a parent, teacher, or other adult facilitator.

What is included in the box

  • 1 printed full-color Student Book
  • 1 printed full-color Student Workbook with observation, reflection, and capstone comparison pages
  • 1 printed Parent & Facilitator Guide
  • 1 printed curriculum overview
  • 1 solar-powered car experiment kit
  • 1 wind generator experiment kit
  • 1 hydro generator experiment kit
  • 1 solar street-lamp experiment kit with direct-solar mode and a separate dry-battery mode
  • Printed assembly instructions for the four experiment kits

Optional digital access: 8 QR-linked companion videos and a digital completion certificate at edreal.org.

What students do

Assemble the models with adult support, compare stronger and weaker light, vary airflow and water flow, observe changes in output, record evidence, and recommend the right energy system for a real-world job.

Important to know

  • The four experiment kits are the required hands-on core; extra craft projects are not required.
  • The street lamp’s solar mode and dry-battery mode are separate power sources. The solar panel does not charge the replaceable dry battery.
  • Performance depends on light strength, airflow, water flow, assembly, and test conditions.
  • The battery holder is included; the dry battery required for battery mode is not. Follow the kit instructions for the required battery type.
  • Small parts, assembly, battery installation, and water testing require adult supervision.

You provide: pencils or pens, the dry battery specified in the kit instructions, sunlight or a strong lamp, moving air from breath or hand-fanning, water for the hydro test, and an internet-connected device only if you want to use the optional digital materials.

Quick answers

Who is Clean Energy Lab for? It is designed for ages 8–13 and can be used by one learner or a small group with adult facilitation.

Does the Lab require regular screen use? No. Core work uses printed books, a workbook, physical energy models, observation, discussion, and testing. QR-linked videos are optional.

Is it an accredited science course? No. It is a supplementary hands-on curriculum designed to complement core academic work. The completion certificate documents participation; it is not an academic credential.
